Age limit and relaxation for reserved categories
The upper age limit is 40 years for the Senior PAT codes (17001, 17003, 17023) and 35 years for all other codes, counted on the interview date of each code.
The relaxation in the age limit is 05 years for SC/ST/PwBD/Women and 03 years for OBC, or as per Govt. of India instructions issued from time to time.
Selection process
The Selection Committee(s) may either hold a direct interview or an objective test (Based on Multiple Choice Questions) followed by interview on the same day. The number of selected candidates may vary from the advertised positions depending upon performance of candidates during the selection process.

Eligible candidates attend the walk-in interview on the date of their position code with an application on the prescribed format, which is available on www.ihbt.res.in, with a latest colored passport size photo affixed on it. Candidates applying for more than one position code have to submit a separate application form for each code. A request for an online interview will not be entertained.

- Self-attested photocopies of testimonials of age, educational qualifications, experience etc. Applications without self-attested copies of the essential certificates will not be accepted.

Terms of engagement
- Engagement is on behalf of the sponsoring agency, temporary and co-terminus with the tenure of the project or 06 years, whichever is earlier.
- It gives no right or claim for regularization for a permanent post of CSIR.
- The performance of project staff is reviewed after every six-months period, and anyone not found up to the mark may be terminated.
- No Travelling Allowance will be paid for attending the interview.
- The decision of the Director, CSIR-IHBT, Palampur is final on any matter relating to the engagement.
- In case of any dispute, the English version of the notice will prevail.
