TISS wants a doctor who can live at the Health Centre and take calls all night
Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, is recruiting 1 (One) to 2 (Two) Medical Officers (Residential) on contract for its Health Centre at the Deonar campus, Advt. No. ADVT/TISS/MO/SEP/2026 dated 25 September 2026. Applications close on 5th October, 2026.
MBBS plus one year of hospital experience, nothing more, nothing less
The post needs an MBBS recognised by the National Medical Commission, registered with the NMC or a State Medical Council, and one year of working experience in a hospital attached with a Medical College or Corporate Hospital. A postgraduate qualification in Medical Sciences is only listed as desirable. Applicants must be below 65 years of age as on 30th September, 2026.
8 hours of OPD, then on call around the clock, with campus accommodation
The role is not a fixed shift. The notice sets 8 hours of OPD duty and then being on call 24/7, and in exchange the institute makes accommodation on the campus available. The contract runs for not exceeding one year, extendable subject to satisfactory performance and requirement, or ends once the post is filled another way, whichever comes first. A selected candidate must join within 15 days.
Rs.500 for most applicants, Rs.125 with a category certificate, nothing for women
The application fee is Rs.500/- for general applicants, reduced to Rs.125/- for SC, ST and PWD candidates who attach the required certificate with the online form. Women applicants are waived from the fee entirely. TISS states plainly that fees, once paid, are not refunded under any circumstances.
Applying with a Gmail address, and why canvassing gets you barred
Only online applications submitted through the TISS website will be considered, and the form specifically asks the candidate to provide a Gmail ID. Shortlisted candidates are called by email for a Personal Interaction at TISS, Mumbai; the notice is explicit that requests for an online interaction will not be entertained. It also warns that canvassing in any form will lead to the candidate being debarred from consideration for the post, and that no queries about the call letter will be entertained at any stage.

No. Requests for an ONLINE Personal Interaction will not be entertained; the Personal Interaction is conducted at TISS, Mumbai.
Q3. Do women applicants have to pay the Rs.500 fee?
No. Women applicants are waived from payment of the application fee.
