New Mangalore Port Authority wants a retired Hindi Officer, not a fresh graduate
New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) has floated Notification No. 7/2/2026/CERS.2 for one post of Consultant (Official Language), open only to retired persons aged 63 or below who have already served as Hindi Officer or above in a Central Government department or establishment. A candidate needs a Master's degree in Hindi with English as a degree-level subject, or a Master's in English with Hindi as a degree-level subject, or a Master's in any subject with both Hindi and English at degree level, or a Master's in any subject through English medium with Hindi as a subject, combined with five years' experience as Hindi Officer or above in Central Government service. If nobody with that exact combination is available, NMPA will instead consider retired officers who carry 10 years of experience as Hindi Officer or above.
How NMPA fixes what a re-employed Hindi Officer actually takes home
Pay is not a flat figure. The notice sets it as a fixed consolidated remuneration arrived at by deducting the basic pension from the pay drawn at the time of retirement, under OM No.3-25/2020-E.IIIA of the Ministry of Finance dated 09.12.2020, with TDS deducted as applicable. That remuneration stays unchanged for the whole contract term, and it is docked proportionately for any absence without leave on a no-work-no-pay basis. Facilities such as transport, accommodation at NMPA quarters, a laptop and a mobile connection are allowed at the level of a regular Hindi Officer post.

Leave, notice period and how NMPA can end this Consultant engagement
The selected consultant gets 15 days casual leave in a year, subject to the Deputy Chairperson's prior permission, but no additional remuneration for working on holidays or beyond normal hours when work demands it. NMPA can terminate the contract at any point with one month's notice, or without notice at all in case of misconduct; a consultant who wants to leave early must give three months' advance notice in writing. Any dispute is decided by the Chairperson, NMPA, with Mangalore as the seat of jurisdiction.
