Category-wise reservation
The notice gives the category split for all 25 posts together, not department by department.
| EWS | UR | OBC | SC | ST | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 12 | 6 | 4 | 1 | 25 |
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities with at least 40% disability get 4% reservation, applied horizontally within their own category. The disability certificate must come from an authorised Medical Board of a State or Central Government hospital and be countersigned by the Medical Superintendent, CMO or head of the hospital.
- An EWS post is not carried forward if it stays unfilled. Candidates of other categories may apply for it provisionally and are considered as UR only if no EWS candidate fills it.
- If no candidate of a reserved category is available, the institute may appoint a candidate of another category to that seat temporarily, for up to 44 days at a time.
- The competent authority can change the number of vacancies, reserved ones included.
Eligibility
- MBBS, including completion of internship, that is included in the first or second schedule or Part II of the third schedule of the Indian Medical Council Act 1956. Holders of Part II, third schedule qualifications must also meet Section 13(3) of the Act.
- Registration with the Central or a State Medical Council.
- A valid pass certificate on the last date for receipt of applications, 28 October 2026.
The notice is strict about the result date. If you have taken the final exam but the result is pending, you may sit the interview provisionally, but only if the result is declared by 28 October 2026. If it comes after that date, the candidature is cancelled even if you were interviewed.
OBC and EWS certificates
- OBC candidates need a caste certificate in the DoPT format with the non-creamy layer clause, and the caste must be in the Central List of OBCs. Only an NCL certificate issued between 1 April 2026 and 28 October 2026 is treated as valid.
- If you do not yet have a 2026-27 NCL certificate, attach the older OBC and NCL certificates or the acknowledgement slip of your application for a new one. You may be interviewed as OBC provisionally, but you can join only after producing an NCL certificate issued in 2026-27.
- EWS candidates need an EWS certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026, in Hindi or English and valid for Central Government institutions.
Age limit and relaxation
The upper age limit is 33 years on 28 October 2026, the last date for applications.
| Category | Relaxation |
|---|---|
| OBC | 3 years |
| SC / ST | 5 years |
| PwBD (General) | 10 years |
| PwBD (OBC) | 13 years |

SC, ST and OBC candidates who apply against UR vacancies do not get any age relaxation.
Pay and tenure
Junior Residents are paid at Pay Level 10, Rs 56,100, with the other usual allowances. Under the Government of India Residency Scheme the tenure is six months, extendable to a maximum of one year at the discretion of the competent authority. A committee set up by the Executive Director reviews performance after six months, and an extension depends on its recommendation. Private practice of any kind is not allowed, you may have to work in shifts, and you can be posted anywhere in the institute.
Application fee
| Category | Fee |
|---|---|
| General / OBC | Rs 1,500 |
| SC / ST / EWS | Rs 1,000 |
| PwBD | No fee |
Pay the fee by demand draft in favour of "Director, AIIMS Rewari", payable at Rewari, and enclose it with the application. Write the DD number, date and amount in the box at the top of the form. The fee is not refundable, and an application without the fee is rejected outright.
Selection process and interview
- Selection is on the interview alone. The interview carries 100 marks, and separate merit lists for SC, ST, OBC, UR and EWS are drawn up from interview marks only.
- The institute may hold a qualifying written test to cut down the number of candidates called for interview.
- Candidates are called for interview on the basis of the application form, without prior scrutiny. On the interview day a scrutiny committee checks your documents, and only those found eligible are interviewed.
- Ties are broken by date of birth: the older candidate ranks higher.
- Eligible candidates who are not selected go on a waiting list valid till 31 December 2026 or the next recruitment, whichever is earlier. Seats left by non-joining or resignation may be offered from this list.
- Selected candidates must join within 15 days or by the date in the selection letter, must be declared medically fit, and must produce their medical council registration at joining.
The final result is published only on the AIIMS Rewari website.
