Selection process and exam pattern
Selection is through one offline written exam with an OMR answer sheet:
- 100 marks, objective multiple choice, 2 hours, with questions on the subject of the post's qualification. The syllabus is in Appendix-1 of the advertisement.
- Each question has four options. A wrong answer costs one quarter of the question's marks. Marking two answers counts as wrong; leaving a question blank costs nothing.
- Whitener and cutting on the OMR sheet are not allowed. A wrong roll number or booklet series means the sheet is not evaluated.
- You keep the question booklet and the third copy of the OMR sheet.
To qualify, Unreserved, EWS and OBC candidates need 45% and SC and ST candidates need 35%. The merit list is made on the written marks. On a tie the older candidate goes first, then English alphabetical order of names.
Reservation
Uttarakhand's rules give vertical reservation of 19% to SC, 4% to ST, 14% to OBC and 10% to EWS. Horizontal reservation: Uttarakhand women 30%, ex-servicemen 5%, dependants of freedom fighters 2%, divyang 4%, orphans 5%, skilled sportspersons 4%, and statehood agitators 10% (subject to a pending High Court writ). Reservation goes only to the categories the advertisement names, and the relevant certificates must be held by the last date.
- EWS certificate: issued between 1 April and 25 November 2026, on 2025-26 income, valid for 2026-27.
- OBC certificate: valid for 3 years from its issue date, and must be valid on the last date.
- An ex-serviceman who has already taken a government job through ex-servicemen reservation cannot use it again.
Skilled sportsperson quota
Under Uttarakhand's 2024 Act on horizontal reservation for skilled sportspersons, 4% of posts go to sportspersons who have won a medal or taken part at the levels the Act lists. Each level of competition opens posts up to a certain pay level: Olympic participation for Level-10 and below, World Cup, World Championship or Asian Games for Level-8 and below, down to medals at national championships, All India University games, Khelo India Youth Games and recognised state championships for Level-5 and below. Since Technician Grade-II is a Level-04 post, every level in the table qualifies.
Rules that can cancel your application
- Apply only once per post. If you submit more than one form for a post, all of them are cancelled. You can cancel your own form before the last date and apply again, but the fee for the cancelled form is neither refunded nor adjusted.
- Name, father's name and date of birth must match your High School certificate. A mismatch can stop you sitting the exam.
- One edit only, after the last date. The correction window (28 to 30 November 2026) cannot change your name, parents' names, date of birth or exam centre.
- False information or fake certificates, or copying in the exam, leads to debarment from the Commission's exams and an FIR.
- Document verification is compulsory. Missing it cancels the candidature, and selection stays provisional until then.
- Posts and departments are allotted by written exam merit and the preference you give.
Exam day and answer key
- The admit card is only on the website; nothing is posted.
- Mobile phones, calculators, cameras, pagers, scanner pens and any other electronic device are not allowed in the exam centre. The centre allotted may differ from your preference.
- Provisional answer keys are published after the exam. You can object online, within the time given, at Rs 50 per question; offline objections are not considered.
- Give a working mobile number and email in the form, because all updates come through the website and messages.
