Every division also has a few slots in the S&T and Engineering (TMC) departments, usually 1 to 9 per trade. Check your own trade in the PDF table for the unit before you choose it: the notice warns that picking a unit with no slot for your ITI trade makes the application useless, and you cannot change it after final submission.

Eligibility

Educational qualification

Two things are needed together:

  • 10th class (matriculation) or equivalent under the 10+2 system, with at least 50% marks in aggregate. The notice says there will be no rounding off, so a score just under 50% does not qualify.
  • A National Trade Certificate in the notified trade, issued by NCVT or SCVT.

The qualification must be complete on the date you submit the form. Candidates still waiting for final results should not apply.

Age limit

You must have completed 15 years and must not have completed 24 years on 6 November 2026. The upper limit is relaxed by:

Category Relaxation
SC / ST 5 years
OBC 3 years
PwBD 10 years
Ex-servicemen Up to 10 more years, to the extent of service in the Defence Forces plus 3 years, with at least 6 months of continuous service

Application fee

Category Fee
General, OBC, EWS (men) Rs 100
SC, ST, PwBD, women Nil

The fee is non-refundable and is paid online through the payment gateway at the end of the form, by debit card, credit card or internet banking. Once the fee is paid, the form cannot be edited. If money was deducted but the form did not download, use the "Verify Payment" button on the RRC site before paying again.

Selection process: merit list, no exam or interview

There is no exam and no interview. The steps are:

  1. Merit list: for each candidate, RRC takes the percentage in 10th (all subjects, not a group of subjects) and the ITI percentage in the trade, and uses the simple average of the two.
  2. Unit, trade and community-wise lists: merit is drawn up separately for each division or unit, each trade and each community, equal to the number of slots. There is no single combined merit list.
  3. Ties: the older candidate is placed first; if the dates of birth match, the one who passed 10th earlier goes first.
  4. Document verification and medical: shortlisted candidates are called by the division or unit they chose, with original certificates and a medical certificate.

Because the two percentages carry equal weight, a strong ITI score can make up for a weaker 10th result, and the other way round.

Stipend and training terms

  • The training period and stipend follow the rules and directives of the Railway Board. The notice does not state an amount.
  • No hostel is provided; apprentices arrange their own stay.
  • Before training starts, the candidate (or the guardian of a minor) signs a contract of apprenticeship with the employer.
  • Training does not give any right to a railway job. Under para 10 of Schedule V of the Apprenticeship Rules 1992, the railway is not obliged to offer employment, and the apprentice is not obliged to accept it.

Reservation and PwBD standards

Seats are reserved for SC, ST, OBC and EWS as in the unit table, with separate counts for PwBD (VI, HI, LD and MD) and ex-servicemen inside each total. Unfilled SC seats can go to ST candidates and the other way round; unfilled OBC and EWS seats go to the unreserved category.

Only these disabilities are eligible: locomotor disability or cerebral palsy of at least 40%, hearing impairment of 60 decibels or more in the better ear, and low vision in the range the notice defines (less than 6/18 to 6/60 in the better eye with correction, or the listed field defects) for Diesel Mechanic and Fitter. Each trade has its own limits for locomotor disability; for example, Diesel Mechanic can accept damage to the little and ring fingers of both hands.

How to apply

  1. Open rrcjaipur.in between 7 October and 6 November 2026 and read the detailed notification.
  2. Pick one unit that has slots for your ITI trade. Only one application per candidate is allowed; duplicate forms are all rejected.
  3. Register with your 12 digit Aadhaar number, an active mobile number and an email ID. Your name, father's name and date of birth must match your 10th certificate exactly.
  4. Fill in your 10th and ITI marks as printed on the certificates.
  5. Upload a colour photograph (3.5 cm x 3.5 cm, JPG, 100 DPI, 20 to 70 KB, not older than three months, no cap or sunglasses) and your signature (3.5 cm x 2.5 cm, JPG, 100 DPI, 20 to 30 KB).
  6. Pay Rs 100 online if your category pays a fee, then download and print the completed form and the e-receipt.

Do not post anything to RRC. The notice says physical copies are ignored.

Documents for verification

  • Printout of the online application and two extra copies of the uploaded photograph.
  • 10th marksheet and certificate, and the ITI (NCVT/SCVT) certificate or provisional certificate with marks.
  • Original Aadhaar card.
  • SC/ST caste certificate in the Central Government format (Annexure I).
  • OBC caste and non-creamy layer certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026 (Annexure II), with the OBC declaration (Annexure IIA).
  • EWS certificate (Annexure III), and disability certificate from a medical board for PwBD (Annexure V).
  • Discharge certificate for ex-servicemen, or the parent's discharge or serving certificate for wards.
  • Medical certificate in Annexure IV, signed by a gazetted government doctor not below Assistant Surgeon.

Points to check before you apply

  • Only one unit. Choose the unit by your trade, not by distance alone. Bikaner has the most Fitter slots (220) and Jaipur the most Electronics Mechanic slots (127).
  • 50% in 10th is a hard line, with no rounding off.
  • The ITI must be in the notified trade. A Fitter ITI cannot be used for an Electrician slot.
  • It is training, not a job. Railway employment after training is not promised.
  • No travel allowance is paid for document verification.
