UPPSC PCS Exam Date 2026: Prelims on 6 December 2026 as per UPPSC Exam Calendar

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC), Prayagraj, has placed the Combined State / Upper Subordinate Services (Preliminary) Examination 2026, the PCS Prelims, on Sunday 6 December 2026. The date comes from the commission's examination calendar for 2026, notice No. 2920/14/Mis/E-1/2000-01 T.C. dated 30 January 2026. The calendar calls every date in it proposed, so it can move in special circumstances.

What the calendar says about PCS in 2026

Two lines of the 2026 calendar deal with the Combined State / Upper Subordinate Services examination, which candidates call UPPSC PCS. They belong to two different cycles, and it helps to keep them apart.

Serial No. 10 is the written main examination of the 2025 cycle, spread over four days from 29 March 2026. Serial No. 76 is the first stage of the new 2026 cycle. Only the 2026 preliminary date is ahead of us as of October 2026.

The calendar gives a date and a weekday for the prelims, nothing more. It does not give shift timings, the number of papers, the districts where centres will be set up, the number of posts, or the dates for the online application. Those details belong to the PCS 2026 advertisement and, later, to the admit card. Anyone quoting a shift time or a vacancy count for PCS 2026 is not quoting this calendar.

How firm is the 6 December 2026 date

The column heading in the calendar reads "proposed examination date". Note 2 at the end of the document adds that the dates are probable and may be changed in special circumstances. So 6 December 2026 is the date to plan around, but it is not yet a final schedule.

Two things in the calendar itself help you judge it:

• The commission has kept spare weekends marked "Reserved" all through the year. The last two reserved days are 19 December 2026 (Saturday) and 20 December 2026 (Sunday), and there is another reserved Sunday on 29 November 2026. If an exam has to move, these are the slots the calendar holds back.
• Other calendar dates in 2026 have already been used for the exams listed. For example, the Assistant Town Planner (Special Selection) Mains Exam 2025 sits at serial No. 55 on 6 October 2026, and the Health Education Officer screening exam at serial No. 54 on 4 October 2026.

UPPSC exams in the last quarter of 2026

If you are also preparing for another UPPSC paper, these are the entries from October to December 2026 in the order the calendar lists them.

The PCS prelims is the only UPPSC exam in the calendar between 29 November and 16 December 2026. Candidates who also applied for the Drug Inspector screening exam have ten days between the two papers; for the Assistant Architect screening the gap is eleven days.

Serial Nos. 65 to 74 are one recruitment, the Lecturer, Government Ayurved College and Hospital (Screening) Exam 2023, split by subject into two sessions a day.

Note 1 of the calendar also records that the TGT (Male/Female branch) Preliminary Exam 2025 for 8 subjects was finished in January 2026: Social Science and Biology on 17 January, English and Physical Education on 18 January, Arts and Agriculture/Horticulture on 24 January, and Urdu and Music on 25 January 2026.

How to check the PCS exam date on the UPPSC website

1. Open the commission's website, uppsc.up.nic.in.
2. Under the Examinations menu, open Examination Calendar.
3. Open the PDF linked on that page. It is the notice dated 30 January 2026 in Hindi.
4. Go to page 3 and find serial No. 76, "Sammilit Rajya / Pravar Adhinasth Sewa (Prarambhik) Pariksha 2026". The date column shows 06.12.2026 (Ravivar, that is Sunday).
5. Read Note 2 on page 4, which says the dates are probable.

Points to note before you plan around 6 December

• The calendar is not the advertisement. It fixes a proposed date only. Eligibility, age limit, fee and the number of posts for PCS 2026 will come in the commission's advertisement for the exam.
• The date is a Sunday. Several UPPSC preliminary exams in the 2026 calendar fell on Sundays: the Assistant Prosecution Officer prelims on 22 March, the Lecturer GIC prelims on 3 May and the Assistant Professor prelims on 31 May 2026 all did.
• Watch the reserved days. 29 November and 19 to 20 December 2026 are kept free in the calendar. If the PCS date moves, the new date will be on the UPPSC website, so recheck it before you book travel.
• Two PCS cycles overlap. The Mains 2025 started on 29 March 2026. Do not confuse news about the 2025 cycle with the 2026 prelims.
